Tarnobrzeg zone expands to attract new investors

The government on 25 January approved an expansion of the Tarnobrzeg Special Economic Zone (TSSE). Its total area will increase by a net of almost 36 hectares, to over 1,587 hectares, thanks to the incorporation of new sites in three urban areas: Stalowa Wola, Siedlce and Radom, and in the localities of Poniatowa, Ryki and Lapy.

According to estimates, the enlargement will lead to new investments in the TSSE worth over PLN 620m (approx. €160m), and will generate about 2,400 new jobs in the zone. The value of state aid to be granted to the new investors is calculated at nearly PLN 351m (€90m), and the resulting tax receipts at just over PLN 1.36bn (€350m).

Most of the new investment projects will be selected through tenders, but one has already been confirmed: it is a project by Zentis, the German fruit-processing firm, which plans to upgrade its factory in Siedlce by the end of 2013.
