World Bank: Poland’s GDP growth to exceed 4% in 2011, 2012

2011-01-19

The World Bank has upheld its forecast of 4.1% GDP growth in Poland this year, and issued a new projection for 2012 that envisages a further acceleration to 4.5%, thanks mainly to strong private consumption growth and rising positive contribution of net exports.

The Bank expects private consumption to grow by 3.8% both this year and next, whereas public consumption is forecast to rise by 1.6% this year and by 2.6% next year. The Bank also anticipates a rebound in investments in Poland during the next two years, projecting growth of 7.6% in 2011 and 10.8% in 2012.

By way of comparison, in its latest Global Economic Prospects 2011 report the World Bank estimates that global growth will slow to 3.3% in 2011 from 3.9% in 2010, before accelerating again to 3.6% in 2012, with developing countries contributing almost half of global growth during this period.
