PAIiIZ closes more but smaller FDI projects in 2010

The Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency (PAIiIZ) closed 47 foreign direct investment (FDI) projects this year, up from 36 in 2009. They were worth nearly €620m, a decline of about 30% compared with last year, according to figures released by the Agency on 15 December. The total number of jobs created as a result neared 10,000.

The PAIiIZ noted that the decline in FDI activity in Poland was less steep than the one in global FDI flows.

In terms of country of origin, the largest number of the projects piloted by the Agency were by investors from the US, Sweden and France.

Data for the first three quarters of the year showed that the sectors with the highest number of new FDI projects were BPO R&D, machinery, aviation and automotive.
