IKEA to open service centre in Poznan

IKEA, the Swedish furniture retailer, will in the spring of 2011 open a financial service centre in Poznan, Puls Biznesu reported.

Recruitment is already underway. In the words of IKEA’s spokeswoman Karolina Horoszczak, the facility will initially employ 30 people and will serve the company’s Polish subsidiaries. However, with time it is to expand to provide back-office support to IKEA’s operations in selected other European countries as well. According to the newspaper, the choice of location – the centre will occupy 3,000 m2 of office space at the Malta Office complex – indicates it could ultimately employ 300 people.

The Western city saw off competition from Wroclaw and Lodz.

IKEA has extensive operations in Poland. They include eight stores, seven malls and 14 factories, with a new plant under construction in the Podlaskie voivodship.
