Infosys to add 500 jobs in Lodz
2010-09-08
Infosys, the leading global provider of IT and business process outsourcing (BPO) services based in India, announced a major expansion of its BPO centre in Lodz. According to Krystian Bestry, managing director of Infosys BPO Europe, the company will add 500 new jobs in Lodz by 2012, taking the total to 1,500, to make it capable of serving at least 20 customers from the European and US markets. At the moment the facility provides services to 10 companies in 22 languages. According to Swaminathan Dandapani, chief executive of Infosys BPO, quoted by the Times of India, Poland’s appeal for the company lies in its strategic location in Europe, relatively low-cost and competent workforce, political stability and a government determined to encourage foreign investment.
Inosys entered Poland in 2007, with the acquisition of a Philips BPO centre in Lodz. Since then it has added more than 200 jobs at the facility.
The Indian firm, which is listed on NASDAQ, has more than 50 offices and development centres in India, China, Australia, the Czech Republic, Poland, the UK, Canada and Japan. Together with its subsidiaries it employs more than 105,000 people worldwide.
