PAIiIZ in negotiations over FDI projects worth €5.3bn
2010-08-24
The Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency (PAIiIZ) is currently discussing terms with investors for over 143 projects with a combined value equal to €5.3bn, Rzeczpospolita reported.
The majority of these investments concern the automotive sector and include the production of both cars and components. The number of such investments rose from 16 to 25 in comparison with the corresponding period of the previous year. Another focus of interest is electronics production, for which the number of negotiated projects rose from 1 to 13. According to PAIiIZ, 60% of the projects negotiated by the Agency tend eventually to be approved and launched. If all the current talks for such projects were to prove successful, 35,000 jobs could be created.
Preliminary data from the National Bank of Poland show that foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows into Poland amounted to €6.3bn in the first half of the year, which represents an increase of 78% compared with the corresponding period of 2009.
