ArcelorMittal invests in new technology at Dabrowa Gornicza plant

ArcelorMittal, the world’s number one steel manufacturer, is pressing ahead with its investment programme in Poland. On 20 August it initiated the construction of an installation for the blowing-in of coal dust to the blast furnace at its facility in Dabrowa Gornicza (Slaskie voivodship), a project whose value is estimated at €6m. The installation is scheduled to start operations in December 2011.
The new technology will enable the company to significantly reduce the cost of producing pig iron, by cutting the consumption of coke.
