Sejm approves 2009 budget execution report

The Sejm on 22 July approved the government’s report on the execution of the 2009 budget. According to the document, state budget revenues amounted to just under PLN 274.2bn (approx. €63.4bn) last year, which was PLN 1.3bn (€294m) higher than envisaged in the amended 2009 budget bill; whereas expenditures equalled PLN 298bn (€68.9bn), i.e. PLN 2.1bn (€478m) lower than projected. As a result, the central budget deficit amounted to a little over PLN 23.8bn (€5.5bn), which represented 87.7% of the plan and was lower than in 2008.
The original budget bill, amended after the outbreak of the crisis, provided for budget revenues of PLN 303bn (€70bn), expenditures of PLN 321.2bn (€74.2bn), and a budget deficit of PLN 18.2bn (€4.2bn).
