Nordea to expand in Poland
2010-03-02
Nordea, the Swedish financial services group, is accelerating expansion in Poland. Later this year the company will begin relocating back-office processing operations from Scandinavia to Lodz, with several dozen jobs to be filled by the end of 2010 and with several hundred to be created within the next two to four years. According to Dow Jones Newswires, Nordea selected Poland due to lower costs and the availability of high quality workforce.
Meanwhile, Nordea Bank Polska – which already has a local financial centre in Lodz – is pressing on with an ambitious branch-opening drive to maintain strong growth in its core mortgage, SME and local authority lending segments. In 2010 alone the bank aims to open several dozen new branches in big and medium-sized cities.
Since 2007 Nordea Bank Polska has added 115 branches, lifting their total number to 160.
