2010-02-22
The Opel car factory in Gliwice will hire 600-700 new workers as it returns to a three-shift work schedule amid strong orders for the Astra IV car. The first group will begin work in mid-April.
The Gliwice plant, which in 2009 was forced to cut its output by more than 40%, currently employs 2,000 people, down from 2,500 a year ago. A total of 96,697 cars rolled off its production lines last year, down from 171,644 in 2008.
