BusinessEurope: Poland to remain fastest-growing large EU economy in 2010
2010-02-19
The Polish economy will expand by 2.7% this year while inflation will slow to 2%, according to the latest set of economic forecasts for the EU’s 10 largest economies by the Confederation of European Business (BusinessEurope), a group of national employer federations. The projected growth rate is higher than in any other country covered by the forecast. The second-ranking economy, France, is expected to grow by 2% in 2010. The EU as a whole is forecast to expand by 1.2%.
BusinessEurope warns that although the EU economy has struggled out of recession, the recovery remains fragile and challenges daunting. Among other things, the Confederation urges national governments to stimulate business investment and reform public finances, in order to sustain growth and job creation.
