PLN 4.8bn central budget deficit at the end of January

At the end of January the central budget showed a deficit of PLN 4.84bn (approx. €1.2bn), which represents 9.3% of the figure planned for the entire year, according to estimates from the Ministry of Finance.
State budget revenues amounted to PLN 22.05bn (€5.4bn) during the analysed period, and expenditures equalled PLN 26.89bn (€6.6bn), which in both cases translates into 8.9% of the entire year’s plan.
The 2010 budget bill provides for a deficit of a little over PLN 52.2bn (€12.8bn).
By way of comparison, in 2009 the central budget closed with a deficit of just under PLN 23.8bn (approx. €5.5bn), which represented 87.5% of the official plan.
