GDP growth at 1.7% in 2009

Poland’s gross domestic product grew by 1.7% last year, according to preliminary estimates from the Central Statistical Office (GUS). The result was slightly ahead of market expectations, which averaged 1.6%.
Private consumption rose by 2.3% in 2009, while gross fixed capital formation fell by 0.3%. As a result, domestic demand declined by 0.9%.
We expect a gradual improvement in economic conditions this year. According to our forecasts, in 2010 Poland's GDP will rise by 2.3%.
