Government sets high EU funds target for 2010
2010-01-14
At its meeting on 12 January the government approved an ambitious plan for EU-supported investment spending in 2010, which envisages a sharp increase compared with 2009. Under the plan, the Ministry of Regional Development is to release more than PLN 40bn (approx. €9.8bn) this year on EU-supported projects, of which PLN 27bn (€6.6bn) will be refunded by Brussels. This compares to more than PLN 20bn (€4.9bn) and PLN 16.9bn (€4.1bn) in 2009, respectively.
The EU funds made available to Poland for 2007-2013 are being spent mainly on infrastructural projects as well as on enterprise development and personnel training.
Efficient processing and allocation of EU grants was seen as an important factor in sustaining positive economic growth in Poland in 2009.
