GSK to add 100 jobs in Brasov as output rises

2009-08-06

GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) has announced that it will create 100 new jobs at its factory in Brasov, as it relocates production of anti-depressant Seroxat and HIV treatment Retrovir to Romania.
Production of Retrovir at the Brasov plant is to start in the second half of this year, and first exports are scheduled for Q1 2011, after registration procedures are completed. The ultimate level of output, of more than 10 million capsules per year, is to be reached by 2011.
In 2010 the factory will reach maximum output of Seroxat. Exports of the drug, which will be sold to more than 85 markets, are expected to bring €300m in revenues over the next three years.
The Brasov plant currently employs 300 people. GSK acquired it in 1998 after its $29.25m (€20.7m) takeover of Europharm Brasov.
