2008-08-18
Optopol Technology, the listed maker of ophthalmology diagnostics equipment, has received market authorisation in Japan for its flagship SPOCT Copernicus HR spectral computed tomography system. According to the company, the device is one of the most advanced products in its category available on the global market. Optopol expects to sell several hundred units in Japan before the end of the year.
Meanwhile, on 12 August the company announced it has completed the acquisition of a 70% stake in medi.com, a Wroclaw-based supplier of software solutions for medical devices, for PLN 6.3m (€1.9m). The deal is part of Optopol’s strategy to enlarge its product offering, including through acquisitions of software companies that develop systems for the digital registration, analysis and archiving of diagnostic images.
