Samsung expands R&D centre in Warsaw

Samsung Electronics, one of the world’s leading consumer electronics manufacturers, announced major expansion of its Mobile Technologies Development Centre in Warsaw. The unit, which currently employs 100 IT engineers developing and testing software applications for mobile phones, is to double in size by the end of the year.

The Warsaw centre, opened in August 2007, is the company’s main R&D facility in Europe and one of just three such facilities in the world, the others being located in China and India. Samsung also has an R&D centre for digital video broadcasting software in Poland, opened in 2000. The company said its aim was to increase investments in its R&D facilities in Poland in the future.

Samsung Electronics employs 123,000 people in 48 countries worldwide.
