Averion expands European operations
2007-03-01
Averion International, a clinical research organisation (CRO), has opened four Europe-based offices, one of them in Poland. In addition to serving the Polish market, the office will also provide operational support and coordination of studies in the Baltic States.
The move is designed to allow Averion to gain access to large populations of patients in the Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), according to John Shillingford, president of Averion Europe. He claims that the company has already identified clinical sites within Europe with competent, well-trained staffs to run quality trials at competitive prices. Averion is recruiting CRO professionals with established credentials in conducting trials, with a particular focus on oncology, according to Philip Lavin, the company’s CEO. Averion itself is specialised in oncology, medical devices, dermatology and nephrology.
The other new locations are Frankfurt am Main, Germany (provision of financial, administrative and operational support for Averion’s European operations), the UK (in charge of UK and north-western Europe) and Austria (CEE).
Averion is headquartered in Southborough, Massachusetts, and has additional US office locations in New York and California, as well as its new European offices in Germany, the United Kingdom, Austria and Poland.
