Samsung develops R&D centre in Warsaw

Korean electronics producer Samsung Electronics is opening another branch of its R&D centre in Warsaw.

The new unit will focus on developing software for televisions that will enable reception of digital terrestrial television. In connection with the opening of its Digital Television (DTV) branch, the company plans to hire several dozen engineers at the beginning of this year. By the end of 2007 employment at Samsung’s Warsaw centre is set to reach 600-700 people.

Of the concern’s seventeen R&D centres, six are located in Korea, while the remaining units are based in such countries as Russia, Great Britain, USA and Israel. Established in 2000, the Polish centre is the most important facility of this type that Samsung Electronics has in Europe.
