Unilever increases investments in Poland


Unilever, a world leader in the FMCG branch, is to invest PLN 200m (approximately €50m) in expanding its production base in Poland, according to the Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency (PAIiIZ).
The concern’s strategy in the coming years is to build a tea manufacturing plant and a packaging warehouse in Katowice. The production launch-date has been set for the beginning of 2007. The investment is expected to cost PLN 60m.
Another Unilever project involves the construction of a new branch that will produce culinary products. Worth of PLN 120m plant is to be opened in the second half of 2006. The investment will entail hiring approximately 200 people.
Meanwhile, the concern intends to invest more than PLN 15m in expanding its cosmetics production facility in Bydgoszcz.
Unilever currently employs 2,700 people in Poland.
