PPI at -0.4% y-o-y in February


The producer price index (PPI) amounted to -0.4% y-o-y in February, the Central Statistical Office (GUS) announced. The figure is broadly in line with market expectations.

Of Poland’s main industrial sectors, two had positive producer price growth in February, namely electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (2.2% y-o-y) and water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation activities (1.7% y-o-y). By contrast, prices in mining quarrying slumped by 7.8% y-o-y and in manufacturing they slipped by 0.2% y-o-y.

On a month-on-month basis the PPI was 0.3%.

In January-February 2013 producer prices declined by 0.8% y-o-y.
