Wage growth at 2.9% y-o-y in Q4


The average growth monthly wage in the national economy amounted to just over PLN 3,690 (approx. €897) in the fourth quarter of 2012, which is 2.9% higher in nominal terms compared with the same period of the previous year, the Central Statistical Office (GUS) announced. The figure marks a slight acceleration in wage growth from 2.8% y-o-y in Q3. Adjusted for inflation, the average wage remained unchanged, after a 1.1% y-o-y decline in Q3.

As a result, in 2012 as a whole the average wage in the national economy amounted to just under PLN 3,522 (€841), which constitutes a nominal increase of 3.6% compared with 2011. In real terms wages decreased by 0.1% last year.
