Starachowice zone expanded to allow new investments

The councillors of Kielce on 7 February passed a proposal to incorporate six hectares of municipal land into the Starachowice Special Economic Zone. The decision, which needs to be vetted by the central government, clears the way for three manufacturing investments from foreign firms looking to locate production in the Kielce area, Szymon Mazurkiewicz, director of Kielce Technology Park, which is part of the zone, told Polish Press Agency. One of the investors is an unnamed Norwegian company that wants to build a 10,000 m2 factory of massage systems and heating systems for car seats in the city, in a project expected to create 500 jobs.

Mr. Mazurkiewicz expects the government to approve the zone’s expansion within two months.
