Antal: stable trend in managerial/professional employment

Recruitment to managerial and professional positions in Poland remains fairly strong despite a fall over the last months and a projected weakening in Q1, according to the latest edition of Antal Global Snapshot, a quarterly survey from Antal, the international recruitment company.

The study shows that recruitment levels in the final months of 2012 fell to 52% of the surveyed companies from 58% in August. However, the figure is above the global average and similar to other countries in Central and Eastern Europe, the report notes. At the same time, 16% of the surveyed companies said they were firing staff at managerial or professional level. This is down two points on the previous quarter and in line with the world average, translating into a balance of +36 points. Telecoms, technology and shared service centres and business process outsourcing were the sectors with the highest percentages of hiring companies in Q4 2012, at over 70%.

As for hiring and firing expectations, 48% of the Polish respondents said they would take on new managerial or professional staff during the first quarter of 2013, and 17% expected to let people go, translating into a net balance of +31 points, down five points on Q4 but still firmly in positive territory.

Overall, the latest snapshot indicates greater stability throughout the international staffing sector, Antal notes.

The survey is based on interviews with line and HR managers at 16,832 companies in 52 countries, conducted in November and December 2012.
