Global pharma compounding firm to build plant in Malopolskie

Fagron, a global pharmaceutical compounding group based in the Netherlands, plans to invest about PLN 40m (approx. €9.6m) in a production plant and logistics centre in Trzebinia (Malopolskie voivodship), in a local sub-zone of the Krakow Special Economic Zone, Trzebinia’s mayor Stanislaw Szczurek revealed on 22 January.

The parties have signed a letter of intent and the project is already in the designing stage, Mr. Szczurek said. The investment is expected to create several dozen jobs.

In late 2011 Fagron acquired Pharma Cosmetic, a Krakow-based maker and distributor of ingredients for the pharmaceutical and cosmetics industries and for tailor-made medications compounded at pharmacies.

Fagron is active in 28 countries in Europe, the Americas, Asia and the Pacific, employs 1,500 people and in 2011 generated sales turnover of $300m (€225m).
