Fewer lay-offs at Delfo after union talks

The scale of the planned redundancies at Delfo Polska, a maker of extruded and welded parts for the automotive industry and a major supplier to Fiat’s plant in Tychy (Slaskie voivodship), will be smaller than initially indicated, it emerged on 14 January. The company has reached agreement with trade unions to cut 265 jobs, or about 13% of the workforce, by the end of May 2013. This compares to the originally contemplated 290, or even 310 according to earlier media reports.

Delfo Polska, which until 1998 was part of Fiat Auto Poland and is now a unit of Magnetto, employs about 2,000 people at locations in Tychy, Swarzedz (Wielkopolskie) and Kielce (Swietokrzyskie).

Apart from making automotive parts, Delfo also provides powder coating and cataphoretic painting services to the car industry.
