Homanit to invest in Lubuskie

Homanit, a German manufacturer of HDF/MDF wood fibreboards, is entering the Kostrzyn-Slubice Special Economic Zone, in connection with plans to upgrade and expand its complex in Krosno Odrzanskie (Lubuskie voivodship), Puls Biznesu reported. The process is expected to be completed by August, according to a senior zone official.

The German firm is reportedly planning to add new production, warehousing and office space at the Krosno location.

Homanit acquired the Krosno plant last year as a result of its PLN 30m (approx. €7.3m) takeover of Hardex, a leading Polish fibreboards maker listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. It employs 400 people, down from a peak of 800.

In 2005 Homanit acquired a bankrupt boards maker in Karlino (Zachodniopomorskie voivodship). It invested €40m and created 350 jobs.
