GM gets state grant for PLN 325m investment in Gliwice

The government on 11 December approved a PLN 15m (approx. €3.7m) grant for General Motors (GM) in support of a project to launch production of a new-generation Astra IV at the car maker’s plant in Gliwice (Slaskie voivodship).

GM has pledged to invest more than PLN 325m (€79m) and create 150 new jobs, and to maintain the level for at least five years. The project will involve the construction of a new production line for making three- and four-door versions of the new Astra IV.

According to the government, the investment will also create about 600 indirect jobs at suppliers.

At present the Gliwice plant employs 2,800 people.
