General government deficit at 5% of GDP in 2011


Poland’s general government deficit amounted to PLN 76.7bn (approx. €18.6bn) in 2011, which represented 5% of its GDP, the Central Statistical Office (GUS) announced. At the same time, the country’s general government debt stood at PLN 859.1bn (€208.5bn) at the end of last year, or 56.4% of GDP. The figures compare to 7.9% and 54.8%, respectively, in 2010.

The numbers are final and on 28 September were submitted to the European Commission as part of an annual fiscal notification.
