Randstad: lower employee turnover in Poland amid weaker perceptions of job market

2012-10-12

Poles have grown less confident about their ability to find a new job during the next six months and less likely to switch employers, and the perceived risk of job loss remains at a heightened level, according to the Randstad Work Monitor, an international quarterly survey by the global employment firm.

The study shows that just under a third of Poles (31%) feel they are at a moderate or high risk of job loss, compared with 29% in the previous survey published in May and broadly in line with global trends. At the same time, the proportion expressing confidence of their ability to find a job within six months if necessary decreased to 74% from 79%, and to find a comparable job to 64% from 72%. There has also been a decline in staff turnover in Poland since the previous survey, with the percentage of respondents saying they switched jobs during the preceding six months down to 16.8% from 20.5%. The percentage saying they are actively looking for a new job remained at 13%.

The country’s score on Randstad’s Mobility Index, which reflects perceived likelihood that the respondent will be working for a different employer within the next six months, slumped by five points to 101, its lowest level since the survey began in 2010 and the first time it dropped below the global average, which stood at 107 points.

The latest survey is based on interviews with 13,967 respondents in 32 countries in Europe, the Americas, Asia and Australia. It was conducted between 17 July and 8 August 2012. The respondents are aged 18-64 and working a minimum of 24 hours per week in a paid job (excluding the self-employed). The Polish sample consisted 405 respondents.
