WSE hosted the most IPOs in Europe in Q3

The Warsaw Stock Exchange (WSE) retained the top spot in Europe for the number of initial public offerings (IPOs) in the third quarter of 2012, and came fourth in terms of the value of IPO issuance, though in Warsaw as elsewhere, IPO activity declined significantly in Q3 compared with a year earlier, according to IPO Watch Europe, a quarterly publication from PwC.

There were a total of 26 IPOs in Warsaw in the three months to September (including 24 on NewConnect, the junior market), which represented nearly 46% of all offerings on European bourses during this period. The London Stock Exchange came second with 17 IPOs, followed by Deutsche Boerse with 5. In Q3 2011 there were a total of 61 debuts in Warsaw, however.

The Warsaw IPOs were worth €14m between them, compared with €26m at Deutsche Boerse, €54m in Luxembourg and €4.3bn in London. Again, the year-ago figure was much higher, at almost €1.5bn.
