GE to add 400 jobs in Warsaw

General Electric (GE) will invest PLN 194m (approx. €47.2m) in expanding its Engineering Design Centre in Warsaw, in a project expected to bring 400 new jobs over the next two to three years, up from 1,300 at the moment, the centre’s managing director Madgalena Nizik told Puls Biznesu.

The project will involve the construction of two new office buildings and a bearing testing laboratory. Much of the increase in staff levels will come in the design of offshore oil and gas extraction equipment, as GE has decided to concentrate all its R&D activities in this field in Warsaw. As a result, the 200-strong oil and gas team will be expanded to 350 engineers in 2013, and possibly to 450 in 2014.
