PLN 23bn central budget deficit at the end of August


In the first eight months of the year the central budget showed a deficit of just over PLN 22.9bn (approx. €5.5bn), which represents 65.5% of the figure planned for the entire year, according to estimates from the Ministry of Finance.

State budget revenues amounted to PLN 189.5bn (approx. €45.3bn) during this period, while expenditures totalled nearly PLN 212.5bn (approx. €50.8bn), which translates into 64.5% and 64.6% of the entire year’s plan, respectively.

The 2012 budget bill envisages revenues of PLN 293.8bn (approx. €70.3bn) and expenditures of PLN 328.8bn (€78.7bn), translating into a projected central budget deficit of PLN 35bn (approx. €8.4bn).

By way of comparison, in 2011 the central budget closed with a deficit of PLN 25.1bn (approx. €6bn), well below an official target of PLN 40.2bn (approx. €9.6bn).
