Rhodia to build PLN 300m tyre additive plant in Wloclawek?

Rhodia, a leading global manufacturer of specialty chemicals, is exploring plans to build a large factory of silica, an additive for vehicle tyres, in Wloclawek (Kujawsko-Pomorskie voivodship), in the Pomeranian Special Economic Zone, Puls Biznesu has learnt. The value of the proposed investment is PLN 300m (approx. €71.6m), and it would create some 50 jobs, according to a source quoted by the newspaper.

Poland would represent a large market for Rhodia’s product as the country is home to the manufacturing plants of top tyre makers including Goodyear, Bridgestone, or Michelin.

The incorporation of silica reduces tyres’ rolling resistance, generating substantial fuel savings.

Rhodia has 65 manufacturing and R&D facilities worldwide and employs approximately 14,250 people.
