Construction starts on €650m amusement park near Warsaw

On 21 July the ground-breaking ceremony took place in Grodzisk Mazowiecki near Warsaw for Adventure World Warsaw (AWW), billed as the first-of-its-kind big amusement park and resort in Central and Eastern Europe. The value of the project is €650m. The park, which will be constructed over a total area of approximately 230 hectares, will create 3,000 jobs when it is completed in 2015, according to Las Palm, the company behind the investment. The AWW project is reportedly backed by a consortium of top international banks. Las Palm has already spent PLN 160m (approx. €38.4m) in connection with the AWW project, mainly on land plots, said CEO Peter Jan Mulder.

In the words of Steven Shaiken, Executive Managing Director for AWW, “the scale of AWW is without precedence in Eastern Europe and will be responsible for creating thousands of new jobs and impacting favourably on the travel trade and tourism industry throughout the country and all of Europe.”

According to AWW, thanks to the park’s perfect location in Central Poland and easy access to the A1 and A2 motorways, high-speed railways and airports, the number of visits to its main business lines (Theme Park, Water Park, Entertainment Village and Hotels) is conservatively projected to be 2.6m in 2015 and over 4.6m in 2024.
