Intel to expand Gdansk centre

Intel, the US technology firm, plans to add 70 jobs at its research and development (R&D) centre in Gdansk, Puls Biznesu has learnt.

The company has reportedly applied for an EU grant worth PLN 10.3m (approx. €2.5m) in support of the new project, and for a smaller government grant. According to unofficial information obtained by the newspaper, the government’s interdepartmental panel on foreign investment has already approved a decision to contribute PLN 0.8m (€0.2m) towards the expansion.

The Gdansk unit has expanded rapidly over the past four years and is now Intel’s biggest R&D facility in Europe, with a workforce of over 1,000 people. It develops new solutions for computer servers.
