GKN to invest PLN 100m in Dolnoslaskie plant?

GKN Driveline, a leading global supplier of automotive driveline systems and solutions, is considering a major expansion of its factory in Olesnica (Dolnoslaskie voivodship), Puls Biznesu reported. The value of the project, expected to be completed by the end of 2014, is estimated at PLN 100m (approx. €23.5m). It would create 100 new jobs, lifting the plant’s current headcount by 16% to 740.

The plan, which would involve the installation of new production lines for making components hitherto produced outside Poland, depends on the Olesnica factory being included in the Walbrzych Special Economic Zone. If it is not, GKN will move forward with a more limited project worth PLN 57m (€13.4m) and the potential to bring 60 new jobs. Olesnica would compete with locations in Russia and Ukraine for this smaller investment.

GKN Driveline, the largest unit of global engineering group GKN, employs 22,000 people at 57 facilities in 23 countries.
