TRW to expand Gliwice plant


TRW, a global maker of automotive safety systems, has received approval for a significant expansion of its factory of braking systems in Gliwice, in the Katowice Special Economic Zone. The group will invest PLN 50m (approx. €11.7m) in new capacity at the plant, creating 50 new jobs and safeguarding 480 existing ones.

The group is also in the middle of building a new PLN 140m (€32.8m) factory of steering systems in Czechowice-Dziedzice/Bielsko-Biala in the Slaskie voivodship.

Michigan-based TRW produces braking, steering and suspension and occupant safety systems and has over 60,000 employees in more than 185 locations worldwide. In Poland it has four plants, including three in Slaskie. They make safety systems (Czestochowa), steering systems (Czechowice-Dziedzice), braking systems (Gliwice) and body control systems (Pruszkow in Mazowieckie).
