Czech group Energo-Pro to acquire state-owned hydro power company


Energo-Pro, a large Czech operator of hydro power plants and electricity infrastructure, has reached a preliminary agreement with the Ministry of the Treasury to buy 100% of shares in ZEW Niedzica, a state-owned renewable energy producer based in Malopolskie. The value of the transaction was not disclosed. The deal is subject to several conditions and is expected to be finalised in the first half of 2013.

Energo-Pro focuses on Central and Eastern Europe, the Black Sea and the Caucasus. It operates a total of over 40 power plants in five countries (the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Georgia, Turkey, and Armenia) with total installed capacity of 818 MW, and employs 5,900 people.

ZEW Niedzica consists of four hydro power plants with total capacity of about 100 MW.
