HP targets Wroclaw, Lodz for new service centre operations

Hewlett-Packard (HP) is planning to add nearly 570 service-centre jobs in Poland by expanding its facility in Wroclaw and opening a new one in Lodz, Puls Biznesu reported citing unofficial sources. The US group has reportedly applied for state support for the project, which would involve the creation of a further 322 jobs in Wroclaw and 245 in Lodz.

Jacek Levernes, Vice-President HP Global Business Services for Europe, Middle East & Africa, confirmed that the group planned to further develop its Polish base for the provision of international business services and that a number of potential locations were being explored, but no details could be given at this stage.

Poland is said to be one of four countries being considered by HP, alongside India, Romania and Bulgaria. According to earlier reports, the group wants to select the location by the end of June.
