PAIiIZ: new FDI projects exceed €500m in Q1

In the first quarter of 2012 the Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency (PAIiIZ) helped secure 17 foreign direct investment (FDI) projects worth a total of €514m and expected to create more than 4,140 new jobs, a “promising result”, the Agency said on 10 May.

Nearly half the new projects (7) are in the automotive sector, followed by business process outsourcing (3). The remaining seven projects include sectors such as electronics, white goods, R&D, or food. In terms of country of origin, the United States tops the list with three projects, followed by South Korea, Great Britain and Italy with two each.

The PAIiIZ is currently assisting on 149 potential FDI projects worth a total of just over €5bn that together would bring 35,934 jobs.
