Wage growth quickens to 5.2% y-o-y in Q1


The average gross monthly wage in the national economy amounted to PLN 3,646 (approx. €861) in the first quarter of 2012, which is 5.2% higher in nominal terms compared with the corresponding period of the previous year, the Central Statistical Office (GUS) reported. The figure marks an acceleration in nominal wage growth from 4.3% in Q4 2011.

Adjusted for inflation, the average wage increased by about 1.1% y-o-y in Q1, compared with a real-terms decline of 0.1% y-o-y in Q4.

In 2011 the average gross monthly wage in the national economy rose by 5.4% at current prices, which in real terms translated into growth of 1.2%.
