RWE to add fourth wind park in H1 2013

RWE, the German energy group, on 10 May announced the start of construction work on a 39 MW wind farm in Nowy Staw (Pomorskie voivodship), its fourth such development in Poland. The value of the project is just over €60m and it is expected to come online in the first half of 2013.

The farm will consist of 19 wind turbines with generating capacity of 2.05 MW each. It will increase RWE’s wind power capacity in Poland by more than a third to about 147 MW.

The German group’s renewables unit started investing in the country in 2009. At present it has three wind parks, in Suwalki and Piecki (Podlaskie) and in Tychowo (Zachodniopomorskie), with total capacity of 108 MW.

By 2015 RWE Renewables plans to have 300 MW of installed wind power capacity in Poland thanks to new projects in Warminsko-Mazurskie, Pomorskie and Wielkopolskie.
