Lear Corporation to build fourth plant in Poland?

Lear Corporation, a US supplier of automotive seating and electrical power management systems, has received permission for a €20m manufacturing investment in the Legnica Special Economic Zone, Puls Biznesu reported on 2 May citing unofficial sources. The new facility – Lear’s fourth one in Poland – will reportedly employ several hundred workers.

According to the newspaper, the US group is in talks about using a vacant factory building in Legnickie Pole (Dolnoslaskie voivodship) abandoned in 2009 by Lenovo, the PC maker, which had planned to locate its first European plant there.

Lear Corporation has 100,000 employees at 207 facilities in 35 countries worldwide. In Poland it has two factories of car seating systems, in Tychy (Slaskie) and Jaroslaw (Podkarpackie), and one plant making electrical power management systems, in Mielec (Podkarpackie).
