KiK enters Poland

KiK, the leading European clothing discounter, on 15 March opened its first store in Poland, in Sroda Wielkopolska, a town of 22,000 inhabitants in the Wielkopolskie voivodship. It is the first step of a major expansion programme on the Polish market, with a target to create a network of about 100 outlets across the country in the coming years. By the end of 2012 KiK aims to have 15-20 stores in Poland.

Piotr Urbanski, General Manager of KiK Polska, said the group saw Poland as an important growth market and was optimistic about its chances of gaining a strong presence on the Polish clothing market with its low-price strategy.

The German group has more than 3,100 stores in its home country and in several markets of Central and Eastern Europe. It is already present in the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary.
