Net financial result of enterprises up by 16.2% in 2011

In 2011 the net financial result of non-financial enterprises employing 50 or more people amounted to nearly PLN 104bn (approx. €25.2bn), which represented an increase of 16.2% compared with the previous year, according to research carried out by the Central Statistical Office (GUS). In 2010 the figure rose by 13.4%.

During the analysed period, revenues of enterprises from all operations amounted to just over PLN 2,294bn (€557bn), i.e. 13% higher than in 2010. As costs rose at a slightly slower rate (up 12.9%), the sector’s net profit margin improved to 4.5% from 4.4%. At the same time, corporate liquidity deteriorated last year, with the first-degree liquidity ratio down to 38.1% from 39.7%.

In 2011 about 78% of all non-financial enterprises posted a net profit, compared with 78.4% in 2010. In the manufacturing sector the proportion of profitable firms increased to 79.7% from 77.1%. The share of exporting firms in the overall population of companies was 47.2%, compared with 47.4% in 2010. The proportion of profitable firms among exporters rose to 80.5% from 78.9%.

The survey covered 17,346 businesses employing 50 or more people, drawn from all sectors with the exception of agriculture, hunting, forestry, fishing, financial and insurance services and institutions of higher education.
