PPI slows to 6.3% y-o-y in February


The producer price index (PPI) amounted to 6.3% y-o-y in February, the Central Statistical Office (GUS) announced. The figure is slightly below a market consensus of 6.6% y-o-y.

Of Poland’s main industrial sectors, the steepest price increase (up by 6.6% y-o-y) was noted in manufacturing, followed by mining-quarrying (up by 5% y-o-y). In water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation activities prices went up by 4.5% y-o-y, while in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply they increased by 3.6% y-o-y.

On a month-on-month basis the PPI was negative at -0.3% in February.

In the first two months of 2012 producer prices grew by 7.1% y-o-y.
