PLN 5.3bn central budget deficit at the end of January


In January the central budget showed a deficit of just under PLN 5.3bn (approx. €1.2bn), which represents 15.1% of the figure planned for the entire year, according to estimates from the Ministry of Finance.

State budget revenues amounted to nearly PLN 27bn (€6.2bn) during this period, while expenditures totaled PLN 32.3bn (€7.4bn), which translates into 9.2% and 9.8% of the entire year’s plan, respectively.

The 2012 budget bill provides for a deficit of PLN 35bn (€8bn).

By way of comparison, in 2011 the central budget closed with a deficit of about PLN 25bn (€6.1bn), i.e. just over 60% of the official plan, according to preliminary estimates.
