Nokia Siemens Networks to cut 3% of jobs in Poland

Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN), the global provider of network and telecom solutions, will carry out a limited job-cutting exercise at its Polish unit over the next two years, as part of a wider restructuring of its European operations designed to enhance the company’s strength against competitors Ericsson and Huawei.

According to Puls Biznesu, NSN, which recently won a large tender in Poland from T-Mobile and Orange, plans to trim a total of 65 jobs in the country over 2012-2013. The figure represents less than 3% of its current Polish workforce of 2,450. By way of comparison, in Germany the programme will see the axing of 2,900 jobs, or almost a third of the total, while in Finland 1,200 positions are to go, out of a total of 6,900.

The measures are expected to bring annual cost savings of €1bn.
