PPI quickens further to 8.9% y-o-y in November


The producer price index (PPI) amounted to 8.9% y-o-y in November, the Central Statistical Office (GUS) announced. The figure is higher than a market consensus of 8.7% y-o-y.

Of Poland’s main industrial sectors, the steepest price increase (up by 10.3% y-o-y) was noted in mining-quarrying, followed by manufacturing (up by 9.6% y-o-y). In the two other sectors price growth was in the low single digits. Thus in water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation activities prices went up by 4.6% y-o-y while in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply they increased by 2.9% y-o-y.

On a month-on-month basis the PPI was 0.7% in November.

In the first 11 months of the year producer prices jumped by 7.5% y-o-y.
